This amazing property consists of 80 hectares of land, the highest point lying about 270 metres above sea-level. From this point the most beautiful vistas over False Bay can be enjoyed by foot or on horseback. Mount Rozier lies next to the well-known Vergelegen Estate in an amphi-theatre within the Hottentots Holland Mountain range, on the outskirts of the town of Somerset West. The vineyard sites on the farm were specially selected for each cultivar and each of these units are registered as single vineyards and they are appropriately named after Mount Rozier family members (Domaine Michael and Domaine Max). The business boasts an exciting 3 different ranges of wines; there definitely is a special wine for everyone no matter the size of your pocket: Rozier Reef – fun, exciting and affordable wines supporting the SASSI initiative – South African Sustainable Seafood Initiative. Rozier Bay – here we focus on the regionality of wines. Mount Rozier – this is our flagship range of single vineyards wines – only sourced from our special farm and they reflect the essence of what our property is all about. They will always heighten your senses and put the cherry on the top of any fine dining experience

The Bouchard Finlayson winery remains a leader in producing world class Pinot noir wines from South Africa. Growing on the slopes of Galpin Peak in the Walker Bay region, repeated vintages of this path-blazing wine continue to reflect a true celebration of Pinot-crafting, endorsing the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley as a jewel in the terroir search for excellence with this illusive grape. Peter Finlayson was the first modern day winemaker in this valley. With his accumulated wine making knowledge he has been instrumental in the primary effort of putting the Walker Bay wine region on the map. The Bouchard part of the name provides a link to our Burgundian contribution. The unique and individual vineyard practices are based on the Burgundian principal of high-density planting with low yields from the individual vines. 9000 vines are planted per hectare. This high density planting is unique to Walker Bay and coupled with the double ‘Guyot’ pruning system encourages a greater surface of leaf exposure with corresponding restricted root growth. This improves fruit concentration, which is so essential to the making of truly great wines. Visit us for a wine tasting experience in our old world cellar and take a wander around our winery bragging exceptional views of both valley and ocean.

Hermanuspietersfontein, once the original name of the village founded in 1855, is now the name of the home of Monsieur Sauvignon Blanc, winemaker Bartho Eksteen. Wine names like Kleinboet, Bloos, Die Martha, Posmeester and Swartskaap are favoured by all cultures and are in memory of Hermanus Pieters, who came to the area to teach children in Dutch, forerunner to Afrikaans. The cellar is known for its Sauvignon Blancs, Bordeaux and Rhone-style blends, but, every family has a black sheep: Swartskaap is a single varietal 100% Cabernet Franc and received the ’08 and ’09 SA Terroir Award, Best Cabernet Franc in South Africa. Grapes come from their Biodiversity and Wine Initiative champion farm, the only in this region to date. “Winemaking starts in the vineyard,” isn’t lip service – it’s a philosophy manifested in reputation gained in three short years. Farm cottages present the opportunity to experience the tranquillity and beauty of the place where the wine is made. Commitment to community building is evident in their popular Saturday Food & Wine Market. The cellar’s yard is the new village meeting place and hosts quarterly Wines of Hermanus and the Overberg Wine Festival
